I am Mrs. Starr, and I am your student's fifth grade teacher this year. I am very excited to get to know each of my students and their families. Let me start with a little about myself...
I am married to a wonderful man, and we have two crazy, busy, adorable boys. I enjoy spending time with my family at the drag track while my husband races and attending my boy's sporting events. We have a black lab named Levi who hates to be left out of a family outing. When I am given the opportunity, I love to read on my Kindle.
I grew up in a small town in upstate New York, playing school teacher and loving my time learning. I graduated from Grand Canyon University after working for 15 years in business administration. After so many years of the business world I left to focus on my family and then I found myself working at my son's private school and daycare. It is here where I refueled my love for teaching and helping children grow. I decided to complete my elementary education degree that I had started after high school.
I have worked in pre-school and elementary schools since 2016. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
My classroom philosophy is that love, structure, and positive classroom discipline are a recipe for learning success. Students need love and understanding that comes with love, to know and feel that they are valued; that their thoughts and ideas are important, and they deserve to be heard.
